Christmas Home Tour

CHRISTMAS TIME IS OFFICIALLY HERE AND I AM READYYYYY FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON! On a very genuine level I love, and have always loved Christmas time. I love the cooler weather, the decorations, the presents (duh), the food (double duh), and the family. I remember when I first got my own house, one of the things I was most excited to do was get my very own Christmas tree. My first tree can’t have been more than 2 feet, but I still piled all the ornaments I could on to make it look magical. I was so excited about it that I wanted to throw a big holiday party, but only 2 people showed up (true story, wouldn’t lie, too depressing). Anyway, that disappointment could not stop my love for Christmas decor, and so I continued decorating every year. Each year my tree grew with my ornament collection, and so followed the general Christmas decor collection. I now have 4 large bins full of ornaments and decor that I anxiously wait to unpack every December.

I think I love decorating for Christmas so much, because it is one of the only times in the year where maximalism is fully embraced. Christmas decor spares no sparkle, color, or glam. So, coincidently, my theme every year is sparkle, color, and glam. Scroll through the pictures below to see my full Christmas set up this year!

The main room I decorate is the living room. This is the only room in my home that fits a tree, I’m here all day, and I want to feel as much of the Christmas spirit as possible, so it really all works out well. One of my favorite pieces to use in the living room is this Martha Stewart flocked garland purchased at Home Depot. I used green wire to attach extra ornaments and frills to the garland. Frills and ornaments were purchased at Michaels and World Market.

Collecting ornaments has become one of my all time favorite old lady activities. I buy ornaments wherever I go! The majority of my vast collection have come from various museum stores around the country (and world for that matter), Anthropologie, World Market, Home Goods, and Michaels. My ornaments have no theme at all, I buy what I like, and fill the tree to the brim. The only uniform items are some of the traditional ball ornaments that are used as fillers for any blank spaces.

Glittered gold and pink bird tree toppers are from Anthropologie. The gold star topper is from World Market.

Extra ornaments were used to fill a gold bowl on my front hall table, alongside some candy cane trees. Ornaments are from Michaels and Home Depot, and the candy cane trees are from Michaels.

At the center of the room is a campaign chest that I draped with two different Garlands from Michaels and a Christmas countdown nutcracker from World Market.

A side table is accented with glittered accessories, and a classic nutcracker tying it in with the rest of the living room decor. Glitter pieces are from Michaels and the nutcracker is from World Market.

Christmas is a time to let your creativity run wild, and put crazy shit all over your house free of judgement. My living room is full of Christmas cheer, and maybe at some point I will have a holiday party where more than 2 people show up (probably not, but here’s hoping).
